From short films to mesmerising movie scores, there are few things Usman Riaz is not great at. Rejecting Berklee College of Music, Usman Riaz paved his way to success on his own terms and as far into the journey.
Usman Riaz, the film-maker, has multiple releases to his credit, plans to release The Glassworker (the full-length film) at the end of 2020 but a prelude from the film has been released and received wide acclaim, both from local press and international ones with Vice dubbing it: “The Glassworker, the debut film from Mano Animation Studios, looks incredible.” Usman is very hands-on with this project, creating art, directing and telling his story.
Usman Riaz, the musician, is a master guitarist who shot to fame with his guitar piece ‘Firefly’. He featured heavily in Junoon’s 20th-anniversary album with his rendition of the hit song ‘Saeein’. He appeared on the 7th season of Coke Studio with atmospheric numbers like ‘Descent to the Ocean Floor’ and ‘Bone Shaker’. Usman Riaz also met his childhood guitar-hero Preston Reed and played alongside him in a famous TED talk where the two discussed their passion for music and guitar instrumentals.
Truly a master at creating experiences through film, music and art, Usman Riaz is one of the most forward-thinking artists of our generation and would have a quite a bit of wisdom to impart from his truly unique journey.
