Abbas Saleem Khan is a Pakistani Transmedia Specialist who has also produced animation and VFX. Starting his career on the NADRA project, he worked with Expert Systems to design the visuals for the country’s first Computerized National Identification Card (2000). He later went on to work at Trango Interactive (2004-09) as an Art Director for the unfinished Shera Jutt. Over the years he led their outsourcing team working on franchises such as Tomb Raider, SpongeBob: Square Pants, Afterburner, Death Jr. 2 amongst others.
After leaving Trango he worked on developing social games as well as ASO driven titles and building Gamification based experiences for companies such as Mobilink. Some of his games have been featured on App Store, Windows Store and Google Play. Between 2015-16, he was the Head of Operations (Production) at Unicorn Black where he supervised the production of Seasons 3 and 4 of Burka Avenger. He later went on to Executive Produce ‘Misri’ for The Palladium Group for the EVA Maternal Healthcare Awareness campaign and Line Producer for Teeto and Tania.
He is currently the CEO of Optera Digital, a Transmedia company that uses AR/VR and Gamification – his most recent work was a recruitment platform that was played by over 32,000 final year University and Fresh Graduates for placements at some of the top FMCGs in Pakistan.
His recently worked with Waqar Azim and Mehran Khan to reactivate the Pakistan Chapter of the International Game Developers Association and serves as Chairperson.
In addition, he is also prominent on the Pakistani Workshop Circuit and advises Development Sector bodies on Gamification and Transmedia. Some of the work includes the usage of Gamifcation on projects for building awareness related to gender parity, governance and public health.
